Guinness World Records History Museum
* The idea of the Guinness Book of Records came from the chief executive of Guinness in Ireland. He was unable to resolve a dispute among friends about what was the fastest game bird in Europe. Drinking a beer soon realized that disagreements over a host of similar issues should take place throughout the British Isles, especially in pubs where Guinness products are sold. Therefore decided to publish the Guinness Book of Records in 1955 to help solve some of the arguments. The first American edition was published in 1956. The book quickly became a bestseller and has the sales record for a copyrighted book.
* The Guinness Book of World Records Museum in Gatlinburg opened in 1978 and is the oldest museum of Guinness still functions. The hotel was completed in 1994 and annual updates and additions keep the current museum.

i am on vacation to Gatlinburg right now and was looking for some of the best tourist destinations of this beautiful city to visit. As you have mentioned that no trip to the Smokies is complete without a visit to the famous Guinness Book of World Records Museum, i have finally made my mind to begin my trip from this interesting place.
