Here is a big thing I wish I knew before going to The Village Shops! The lot directly behind the shops (off Cherokee Orchard Rd) is like many in Gatlinburg, a paid parking lot. I made the mistake of paying with a card – A BIG MISTAKE. In my experience, the company managing the lot takes out multiple charges – in which you have to then go through the processes of calling them and disputes with your card. This lot should be one of your last choices for parking, or always at least pay with cash. One quick Google review search will show you exactly what I’m referring to!
I wish I knew I could bring my puppy to The Village Shops. The Village Shops is a dog-friendly shopping area! You will find that many shop owners place water bowls outside of their shops. Therefore, feel free to bring your dog along on a leash for some exercise and to enjoy the great outdoors!
When shopping, most people usually expect to pay with their cards – well, some shops only accept cash as payment. I wish I had known this before I started browsing in and out of the shops. The Donut Friar accepts cash only – no credit cards here. Although the donuts are fantastic, the locals love the world-famous cinnamon bread. The cinnamon bread sells out almost every day, so get there early with your cash in hand! There are ATMs nearby, too, if you forget as I do!
If you’re looking for a unique and eclectic shopping experience, the Village Shops in Gatlinburg are definitely worth a visit.
