3 Things I Wish I Knew Before Going To Gatlinburg Skylift Park

Gatlinburg Skylift Park Spans Across The Mountains Above Downtown Gatlinburg

If you’re looking for a thrilling experience, consider taking a trip to Gatlinburg Skylift Park. However, before you go, you should know a few things. Here are 3 things I wish I knew before going to Gatlinburg Skylift Park that will help make your visit more enjoyable.

The Gatlinburg Skybridge Moves - After All, It Is A Suspension Bridge

1. I Wish I Knew That The Bridge At Gatlinburg Skylift Park Moves

I wish someone had told me that there are signs before you go on the SkyBridge that warns you of jumping or swaying on the bridge. Why, may you ask? This is because you can feel movement on the bridge. Especially when you’re making your way over the all-glass floor on the end of the bridge, the vibration and swaying can be super freaky. It doesn’t move dramatically, but if this is your first time on a suspension bridge, you will probably be spooked out – especially if you didn’t know beforehand like me!

Gatlinburg Skylift Park Has Only One Way Up And Down

2. I Wish I Knew There Is Only One Way To Get To The Top

When I went to Gatlinburg Skylift Park for the first time, I wished I knew that the ONLY way to the top was by chairlift. Since I was in a time crunch to catch a dinner show in Pigeon Forge, the option of driving to the top wasn’t even an option. The parking at the top is only reserved for employees of Gatlinburg Skylift Park. The chairlift is fast, taking about 10 to 15 minutes max each way, much faster than Anakeesta’s Chondala. Be sure to keep this in mind, as the chairlift is the only means to experience this attraction.

3. I Wish I Knew That My Fear Of Heights Would BE Put To The Test

That’s right – if you had a previous fear or didn’t even know you had a fear of heights, it will be tested at Gatlinburg SkyLift Park. Since you have to go on the chairlift, brace yourself for a steep journey to the top of the mountain – literally! This Gatlinburg landmark transports guests from the heart of town up 1,800 feet above sea level to the top of Crockett Mountain. At some points in my experience, it felt like you’re going straight up the mountain. Was it worth the brief moment of anxiety?! Yes, most definitely! The views, pictures, and memories made at Gatlinburg SkyLift Park were hands down worth it!
